Botna Valley Genealogical Society, Pottawattamie County Iowa
Botna Valley Genealogy Society will resume meeting with the first meeting scheduled for Monday, March 3, 2025, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Floyd Caughell Genealogy Room at the Eckels Memorial Library in Oakland, Iowa. We hope to see a good turnout for this first meeting of 2025! Feel free to invite a friend and/or prospective member.
No program is planned for March as the meeting will be our "catch-up" meeting of what everyone has been working on and accomplishing during these off months. Come prepared to share your accomplishments. We also need to plan programs for the year, so bring some ideas along for that, too. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday!!
Members are encouraged to work in the Genie Room any time the Library is open on projects that need done. Check with your President if you have any questions as to what can be done.
Old Business: Just a Reminder: Since most all of our members have Internet and Email access, it was voted that we send out the newsletter as a .pdf file in an email to all members. Also, there is a link on this website to the current newsletter PLUS complete issues back to 2013. Anyone wishing a printed copy would be able to print their own from either the website or the .pdf file. We will send out newsletters to those few individuals who do not have Internet/Email access. They will be printed in our Genie Room. It was voted that the newsletter continue thru year 2022. (Last newsletter printed was June 30, 2023.)

Colleen, I have posted an ad in reference to the Orphan Train that stopped in Oakland in 1904. It is under the tab "Blog/News." Let me know if that is what you were wanting to look for. Barb

Would there be an opportunity for me to visit the genie room to search for information about an orphan train stop in Oakland? Thank you!
